Infighting in BJP is history, says Eshwarappa

In yet another popular move ahead of next Assembly elections, the state BJP government is planning to regularise houses built on government land in the Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) limits.

Deputy Chief Minister K S Eshwarappa, who also holds the Revenue Department told reporters here on Wednesday that the government was mulling over providing relief to urban poor by regularising their houses built on the government lands.

“I have been holding consultations with the officials in this regard.

If everything goes according to the plan, a Bill in this regard would be tabled in the next session,” Eshwarappa said.

He added that the proposed move was to help urban poor and not benefit land grabbers.

It may be recalled that a similar Bill that sought to regularise houses built on government lands in rural areas was passed in the recently concluded Monsoon session.

The Governor is yet to give assent to the Bill.

On the implementation of A T Ramaswamy and V Balasubramaian Committee reports which identified encroachments on over one lakh acres of government land, Eshwarappa said that the government was committed to implement both the reports and it had already started the process.

“We have been holding consultations with officials and political leaders on how to go about the issue.

In a month’s time we will be able to take a final decision,” Eshwarappa said.

Unity in BJP He revealed that infighting in the BJP was a thing of past.

“I assure people that we will give a clean and confusion free administration in the remaining eight months,” he said.

He said that the BJP had inducted a lot of outsiders on the basis of caste and money power.

However, a few of them later turned out to be troublemakers.

“Though we wanted to take action against them the fear of losing the government stopped us.

But we will be very careful in giving tickets in the next Assembly elections,” he said.

According to him, former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa’s tour to drought-hit areas of the state was a decision of the party.

“Being the senior most leader, Yeddyurappa has every right to tour the state and advise the government on important issues,” said Eshwarappa.

On Cabinet reshuffle and appointment of boards and corporations, Eshwarappa said that it would happen soon.

“I will give up the RDPR ministry,” he said.

Eshwarappa, however said that Leader of Opposition in Assembly Siddaramaiah should stop dreaming of becoming the chief minister
