New Delhi: It's been a goal feast at Ipoh as India took on China in the Sultan Azlan Shah hockey tournament on Sunday. Seventy minutes of fast paced hockey saw nine goals being scored as India sneaked home 5-4.
China, the 2006 Asian Games silver medallists, scored the opener in the fourth minute off a penalty corner. India equalised in the very next minute, with Prabhjot Singh scoring off a field goal.
Drag flicker Raghunath made it 2-1 for India in the 19th minute off a penalty corner. China struck back immediately with another penalty corner in the 20th minute.
Rajpal Singh gave India the lead going into the break with a penalty stroke.
China hit back after the break; another penalty corner goal.
Rahunath made it 4-2 for India in the 42nd minute with a perfectly taken penalty corner.
However, with 10 minutes to go, Bimal Lakra made it 5-3 for India with a perfect penalty stroke.
China weren't giving up and they pulled one back. But with time running out it wasn't enough. India gained revenge for their shock defeat in the Asian Games and keeping their challenge intact after slumping to a defeat to Australia on Saturday.
