HC to take measures on fake BPL card holders

BANGALORE: The High Court on Wednesday observed that effective mechanism should be evolved to segregate people who are availing benefits and procuring provisons at subsidised prices by securing BPL cards though they belong to higher income groups.The division bench headed by Chief Justice JS Khehar adjourned the hearing to May 31 after the government advocate submitted that he needs time to seek instructions and to suggest effective means to weed out people who have obtained fake BPL status.Medical Education Minister A Ramadas filed a writ petition in 2006. He contended that the Centre is providing benefits and provisions at subsidised rates.
