New Delhi: Uttarakhand High Court on Friday will pronounce its verdict on the petition of yoga guru Baba Ramdev's aide Balkrishna seeking quashing of an FIR lodged against him by CBI for allegedly using fake educational degrees for procuring a passport.
The High Court had granted a stay on arrest of Balkrishna on July 29 after he moved the High Court. The CBI had registered a case against him on July 23 for cheating and criminal conspiracy for procuring fake degree and violation of section 12 of Indian Passport act for furnishing fake documents to get a passport.
While granting a stay on his arrest, the High Court had asked him to cooperate with the CBI in investigations and appear before it. In complaince with the court order, Balkrishna appeared before the CBI office in Dehra Dun two times in August.
Later, the CBI had also sent a notice to Balkrishna asking him to present his orginal documents related to his education to the agency office.
However, official sources claimed that the envelope delivered to the CBI by Balkrishna through his lawyer on Aug 27 did not have any document but his ration card only.
Balkrishna had gone "missing" on July 24, a day after CBI had registered a case against him and resurfaced on the evening of July 29 only after the High Court stayed his arrest.
