CHENNAI: It is not an unexpected occurrence that on the day before your placement interview, you find yourself digging out the cobwebs at the back of your cupboard for important certificates (that perhaps you stashed away a tad too safely). At least, that was my grandmother’s excuse. Fast forward to the digital age and the smart thing to do would be to always have a soft copy in easy access, stored in your inbox or otherwise. Myeasydocs.com is a company inspired and supported by IIT Madras, that goes one step further. Apart from providing a platform for a citizen’s most crucial documents online, it will also be releasing its patented application that allows customers to submit and verify documents online. Avira Tharakan, Founder and CEO of the portal says, “We will be launching on Wednesday at the IIT premises and there will be a demonstration to show people exactly how it works.” He adds, “Everybody has important documents to keep secure and share, so we are not targeting any particular age group, but this will be a tremendous aid in preventing document fraud that is so common these days.”A Charted Accountant by profession, Avira reveals that his bank receives 15,000 documents on an average every day, and so the idea came to him on the job. “There are other companies that do offer similar services, ” he shares, “but at a much higher cost.” In fact, Myeasydocs.com will be open to universities and colleges free of charge. The CEO breaks down the verification process, “Say you want to get your daughter married and her groom’s college certificates are online, those documents simply need to be uploaded on the website, step one. This is followed by a click on the particular institution’s name via our drop list.” Easy enough, it seems. The same would apply to a company, in the case of say an experience document, or a government body, sighting a birth certificate verification.Apparently, according to a survey conducted, a mere 2 per cent of companies check for authentication of the documents submitted by new employees, because of the lack of facilities available. In fact, across the globe, China and Australia are the only countries that have a ‘national document verification’ system in place. Although, Avira mentions, “There was a problem with the system because citizens had no control, over who was viewing their documents.”Myeasydocs.com offers users a web 2.0 eco-system enabling faster, cost-effective and efficient verification and authentication of documents. Also, one can decide which company or institute can view these files by an auto generated transaction code and of course, consider the number of trees that can now breathe easy as the world gets doc savvy, the virtual way.
