BIDAR: Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president Dr G Parmeshwar urged Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda to immediately dissolve the Assembly and face elections.Interacting with the press here on Tuseday, he said that the Congress will win the next Assembly elections and return to power in the state. He also exuded confidence over the party’s prospects in the upcoming Udupi- Chikmagalur Lok Sabha bypoll.“80 cities in the state are facing acute drinking water problems, but the government has failed to solve them. The budget allocation of Rs 131 crore for tackling drought, out of which Rs 30 was allocated for drinking water is insufficient,” he alleged. He decried the widespread rural-urban migration and added that the government has neglected such problems.“This is reflective of a total collapse of administration.” Pointing out to the Rs 1200 crore grant released under the Rajeev Gandhi Mission, Parameshwar said that the state government has not contributed its share of the fund.Casting aspersions on the fiscal position of the state, he asked how could the state, which presented a Rs 83,000-crore budget last year, spend 40 per cent of the entire allocation within one month. He averred that the size of last year’s budget was Rs 10,000 crore and a mere Rs 4,800 crore was collected by way of sales tax.
