BHUBANESWAR: The State Government has started disciplinary proceedings against 62 OAS officers for not submitting property statements as per its direction within the deadline.An order issued by the Revenue Department said the 62 officers had never submitted their property statements during their service period despite repeated reminders from the State Government. Revenue Minister Surjya Narayan Patro told this paper that decision has been taken to initiate disciplinary action against the officials.Disciplinary action will be started against the officials under Rule 16 of the Orissa Service Conduct Rules. Similarly, showcause notices have been issued to five OAS officers who submitted their property statements within the deadline of December 31, 2008, but did not do it as per the rules and in detail.   Several deadlines were set by the State Government for the OAS officers to submit their property statements. In its letter to the principal secretaries of all departments issued on June 13, 2011, the Revenue Department had stated that 344 officers had not submitted their property statements at all or had not submitted it under separate sealed cover by June 10. The defaulting officers were asked to submit their property statements within June 15. However, it was found that still 62 officers have not submitted their statements.
