Disaster management units go wireless

Disaster management units in all the districts across the state will be modernised in next three months, Deputy Chief Minister K S Eshwarappa said on Monday.

After inaugurating the Karnataka State Disaster Management Authority (KSDMA) website, the Eshwarappa said 14 district units already have wireless connectivity and the government has released funds to acquire wireless sets for remaining districts.

He said the KSDMA centre in Bangalore will be connected with all the district centres and the government is also taking steps to involve non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in disaster management.

Tushar Girinath, secretary, Revenue Department, said the website, www.ksdma.co.in, has all the information about state’s preparedness in dealing with disasters, contact numbers of KSDMA district officers and all other information related to disaster management.
