BHUBANESWAR: At least 32.40 per cent students cleared the High School Certificate (HSC) supplementary examination 2011, results for which were announced by the Board of Secondary Education (BSE), Cuttack, on Wednesday. While Deogarh registered the highest success rate, Koraput was at the bottom. Boys have fared better than the girls in the examination. According to BSE, at least 57,638 candidates had appeared in the test. A total of 10,047 boys passed the examination, while over 8,114 girls cleared test. The pass percentage of boys stood at 55.38 whereas for girls, it was 44.61. With a success rate of 51.80 per cent, Deogarh was the most successful district. Of the 313 students who appeared, 158 cleared it. Of the 1,710 candidates in Koraput, just 280 cleared the examination. Results of 1,566 were withheld because of malpractice. In fact, the incidence of malpractice has risen. In 2009, 660 candidates were booked for malpractice while 547 were booked in 2010. The supplementary examination was held on August 22 across 333 centres of the State. This year, the board has not brought out result booklets. The results were announced on the website of the BSE.EXAMS MAY BE PUT OFF: Meanwhile, in view of the panchayati raj polls in February, the annual HSC examination may have to be postponed. The Plus Two examination will also see a change in schedule.
