New Delhi: A protest against an anti-encroachment drive in the Jwalapuri area near the Udyog Nagar metro station in west Delhi turned violent on Saturday as the locals clashed with the police. The police resorted to lathicharge to disperse the mob.
Eyewitnesses said that the police also fired tear gas shells at the protesting crowd. The police were trying to remove the makeshift huts in the slum in the area when the people attacked them.
