BANGALORE: The fire personnel with the assistance of BBMP and police personnel were involved at clearing the debris after a three-storey building collapsed following a LPG cylinder blast. Meanwhile, the Kamakshipalaya police booked a criminal case against the house owner Sriniavas Naidu for negligence, which resulted in the accident and the death of two persons and injury of many. A police officer said that about 50 per cent of the debris was cleared as personnel are working round the clock. However, the reason for gas leakage is yet to be ascertained. Fire department officials confirmed that there were a few LPG cylinders kept in the kitchen of Sree Lakshmi Venkateshwara Convention Hall and a gas leak had caused the explosion. On the other hand, forensic experts have expressed different views. There is a plastic factory adjacent to the building and investigators are looking into the angle of the leakage of chemicals as well. As of now, they have collected photographs and samples from the place, but they can ascertain the reason only after the debris is completely removed, an officer added. The personnel have retrieved a walkie-talkie of the fire department from the site, which belonged to a fireman who was injured during the incident. Meanwhile, the injured are out of danger and are receiving treatment at Victoria Hospital and other hospitals, police said. Post the wall collapse and cylinder blast, a mobile phone tower installed over the convention hall looks like might collapse anytime. Police and fire personnel have requested that the tower be removed as the building on which it is installed has developed many cracks after the incident.
