CHENNAI: The CPM, a key ally of the AIADMK in the May Assembly elections, will decide on the fate of its tie-up with the ruling party at its State Executive Committee and State Committee meetings slated for September 25-26.Senior Marxist party leader and MLA, A Soundararajan, confirmed that “the issue would be deliberated at the meetings and an appropriate decision taken on the civic polls”. The party’s national leaders may participate in the deliberations. He was responding to queries on the status of the alliance following the continuous release of lists of candidates by the AIADMK despite a plea from his party to withdraw them till the seat sharing talks were over.Even after CPM State secretary G Ramakrishnan sent a letter to AIADMK chief and Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on Monday requesting her to announce the candidates only after the conclusion of talks as it would bring cordiality, the AIADMK released its list of candidates. For his part, CPI State secretary D Pandian said the party panel authorised to hold talks with the AIADMK was seized of the issue. “The party committee on seat sharing will take up this issue [of release of lists] with the AIADMK,” Pandian said.
