New Delhi: Thursday night’s security breach at Prime Minister’s residence has evoked strong political reactions.
While PMO denied it was a security lapse, both the BJP and the Congress have reacted sharply and have demanded a thorough inquiry into the matter.
“The security people must own up, openly confess and tighten their belt, that is more important,” BJP Spokesperson, Ravi Shankar Prasad said.
The Congress, too, came out strongly and said a probe would be ordered.
“This is a serious issue and if it’s found out that it was indeed a security lapse, probe would be ordered. The focus should be on taking preventive measures,” Congress Spokesperson, Abhishek Manu Singhvi said.
He suggested that the inquiry should be coming out with preventive guidelines and not merely "curative and punitive" measures.
