Beijing: China on Tuesday warned India against "illegally trespassing" into Chinese territory, and asked it to withdraw its troops.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lu Kang said that India should not take the "illegal trespass as a policy" to realise its political target.
"The illegal trespass by the Indian border personnel has drawn extensive attention from the international community and many foreign diplomatic missions in China said they were shocked by this."
"We also stressed that the facts are very clear in this incident. The Sikkim section on China-India boundary is mutually recognised by the two sides," Lu added.
"This time the Indian border personnel illegally trespassed into Chinese territory." Indian and Chinese troops have been engaged in a month-long stand-off at Doklam in the Sikkim section.
Chinese media, on the other hand, have been taking potshots at India over its stance on the Doklam issue, and accused it of “control and oppression over Bhutan”.
An article in Global Times on Monday said that if India stirs up conflicts in several spots, it must face the consequence of an all-out confrontation with China along the Line of Actual Control (LAC).
“As time is on China's side, New Delhi is deeply concerned with China's rapid rise. Provocation at the border reflects India's worry and attempt to sound out China,” said the article in Global Times.
