THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The CBI court on Saturday rejected both the statements of Shari S Nair, the deceased victim in the controversial Kiliroor sex scandal case, recorded by the then Ernakulam range DIG R Sreelekha and the Kottayam First Class Judicial Magistrate  K P Prasannakumari, when she was undergoing treatment at a private hospital, as evidence.  The court maintained that the case was purely on the sexual abuse of the victim and not at all related to her death, while hearing the arguments of  the prosecution. The defence counsel countered the conspiracy charge against the accused by pointing out the contrast in the first information statement given by the victim’s father Surendran and the chargesheet. Surendran had stated that his daughter was taken to Kumily from his home at Kiliroor, near Kottayam. The prosecution charges that the four accused met Shari at an ice cream parlor near Changanassery and lured her with an offer to act in tele-serials, before moving to Kumily. The date of the Kumily trip was also contradicting. The evidence  produced by the CBI to establish the alleged rape of Shari at Kumily Guest House were countered by the defence counsel, who argued that the girl  went with the accused with prior permission of her parents. The hearing in the case will continue on January 24.
