HYDERABAD: In spite of appeals and warnings by the APSRTC management, its Telangana employees have decided to go on an indefinite strike from September 19 in support of the Sakalajanula Samme by applying brakes on all the bus services in the region. Staying away from work by majority of the staff would have a severe impact on the commuters who are dependent on bus services.
As part of the strike, the JAC leaders have decided to lock all the bus depots in the region to obstruct movement of vehicles. Of the total 22,000 RTC buses in the state, about 11,500 are being run in Telangana region (about 3,700 buses in Hyderabad city). The proposed strike is also going to affect the revenues of the corporation to a tune of about `7.5 crore per day.In addition, the Telangana auto workers association JAC has also decided to observe 48hour bandh from midnight of September 18 in support of the ongoing Sakalajanula samme. Seven seater autos and trollies have also decided to stay off the roads.
