More and more foreigners are being targeted for sexual crime by Indian men.
Udaipur: A British journalist has alleged that she was raped by a rest-house owner in Udaipur.
The journalist, a freelancer, was staying in a rest-house owned by one Parvat Singh. She alleges that Singh raped her on December 23, after she asked him for an extra blanket in the night.
The journalist wrote an e-mail to the British High Commission the next day, informing them of the incident.
The High Commission communicated the information to Rajasthan Police and subsequently, Parvat Singh was arrested.
"Parvat Singh does not have any criminal record," said Inspector General Rajiv Dasot.
He added that the journalist continues to be in Udaipur.
This is her eighth trip to the city.
