NARSAMPET (WARANGAL): Telugu Desam Party (TDP) president N Chandrababu Naidu always held that when in politics one has to receive bouquets and brickbats with equanimity. True to his philosophy, Naidu received both in a single day. Naidu’s day out in Warangal district was marred by violent incidents. He received brickbats from TRS activists, who obstructed his tour. He also received bouquets from farmers, some of whom even wanted to see Naidu as chief minister again.Tension prevailed all along Naidu’s route from Hyderabad to Warangal via Nalgonda, when he reached Narasampet as a part of his Rytu Porubata padayatra.Pro-Telangana activists threw stones at Naidu’s convoy at several places. TDP and TRS activists clashed at many places. Police resorted to lathi charge and quite a number of people, including mediamen, sustained injuries. A war-like situation prevailed in Narasampet as Naidu’s convoy proceeded.TRS activists raised “Jai Telangana” slogans, threw stones at TDP leaders and on Naidu’s convoy. Tree trunks were placed on road and tyres burnt to obstruct Naidu’s tour. TRS activists clashed with TDP workers at many places in Warangal and Nalgonda districts. However, this time, the TDP workers too retaliated in a violent manner. Around 10 RTC buses, carrying people to the public meeting, were damaged by T-activists. One bus was set on fire at Nekkonda. When Naidu started his padayatra from Mondrai village with tight police security, there was no obstruction. The farmers who were consoled by Naidu said they were happy under the TDP regime. TDP leader E Dayakar Rao, who accompanied Naidu, asked farmers whether they wanted to see Naidu as chief minister again and whether they were happy under TDP’s rule. They said they want Naidu back in power. They said obstructing Naidu to reach out to farmers was not correct.Despite threats from TRS and TJAC activists for the last one week that they would obstruct Naidu’s tour, the opposition leader dared to visit Visnur and other villages where pro-Telangana sentiment was very strong. Visnur is known Chakali Ilamma’s sacrifice during the Telangana armed struggle. Before leaving for Warangal, Naidu told in Hyderabad that he was ready to risk his life for the sake of farmers and prepared to face any eventuality.Addressing a public meeting at Narsampet, Naidu said he never spoke against Telangana. “I have supported TDP Telangana Forum. As a president, I have the responsibility to save the party for future generations,” Naidu said. A large number of people at the meeting supported Naidu when he raised the problems of farmers, students, SCs and BCs.When Naidu was about to address the meeting, a Telangana activist hurled a shoe at the dais. He was thrashed by TDP workers.
