Uttar Pradesh: The BJP on Saturday blamed the Centre and the state government for the "chaos and lawlessness" prevailing in Uttar Pradesh.
"The Centre is equally responsible along with Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav, for the chaos and lawlessness prevailing in the state," BJP national general secretary and former state Chief Minister Rajnath Singh said.
Rajnath Singh, who was leading the ongoing BJP's 'Nyaya Yatra' to press the demand for a CBI inquiry into the killing of party MLA Krishnanand Rai, said, "There are enough grounds for the dismissal of the state government."
He also charged the Samajwadi Party-led government with "conspiring to eliminate its political opponents".
Expressing serious concern at the increasing criminalisation of politics, he asked all political parties to ponder over it and make their stand clear on the matter.
