BANGALORE: With The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) constructing a flyover on the Bangalore International Airport Road, traffic condition on the road has worsened, with two wheelers, autorikshaws and pedestrians facing the brunt. The number of accidents has drastically increases since the construction of the flyover began.
In the absence of barricades and dividers between the service road and the main road, vehicles on the service road move to the main road while overtaking or if there is traffic congestion. Iron slabs put up by NHAI around the flyover are causing problems to the vehicles, as the slabs have come out from the stand and has dented many vehicles.

To add to the woes, buses stop after the Hebbal flyover, adding to the traffic congestion on the stretch.

In an attempt to catch signal jumpers, home guards appointed to monitor the traffic, in an attempt to catch these signal jumpers grab on to motorists' shirts or jackets, making them fall.

Although there are proper drainage connections on the BIA road - four drains with two on both sides of the main road and two on the service road, there is no proper closing. This has resulted in drainage water flowing on to the busy road.

No Interception

With the flyover construction being carried on, the NHAI have not taken any measures to regulate the speed limit. Incidents of pedestrians often meeting with accidents are reported. They are forced to jaywalk on this stretch due to the absence of zebra crossing.
