Bangalore: Members of "Youth for Equality" propose to intensify their anti-quota agitation with a "Bangalore Chalo Maha rally" on May 28.

Over 10,000 medical, engineering and degree college students, software professionals, members of IIT-IIM alumni association and general public under the banner of "Youth for Equality" will march from Chicklalbagh to Bannappa park in the city, Kumar Gaurav, who is spearheading the forum, said.

The protesters sporting black badges, will carry anti-reservation placards and banners and also resort to slogan shouting, he said, adding "the protest march will however be peaceful".

The forum plans to appeal to Governor T N Chaturvedi to "address the members about the moves of the Central government," Gaurav said.

"Youth for Equality" has been successful in mustering the support of medical and engineering students of Mysore, Kolar, Belgaum and Davanagere districts and "they (students) have confirmed their partipation in the Maha rally," he said.

Meanwhile, as part of forum's awareness campaign on the reservation issue, about 30,000 pamphlets were distributed in all colleges and software companies in Bangalore on Friday, he said.

Notwithstanding the forum's efforts to intensify the stir, services in Victoria and Bowring government hospitals remained unaffected with junior doctors working as usual, Chief Medical Officers of the respective hospitals said.

What's your reaction?
