A 13-year-old child died after a balloon got stuck in his throat when he was trying to blow it up with his mouth. The incident took place in Jawali in Himachal Pradesh’s Kangra district. The child fought for survival in the hospital for two days before tragically passing away.
The child, Vivek Kumar, a student at Government School, Sidhpurgarh, left for home after school on Thursday. While blowing up a balloon near the school gate, it suddenly deflated, and the balloon went into Vivek’s mouth, getting stuck in his throat.
When they came to known about the incident, Vivek’s school teachers rushed him to a nearby hospital. After receiving first aid, he was transferred to Amandeep Hospital in Pathankot, Punjab. Although doctors managed to remove the balloon from his throat, his condition remained critical. Sadly, Vivek could not recover and passed away around 11 PM on Thursday.
Vivek’s family was left devastated by his sudden death, and his school and village are mourning his loss. His father is a daily wage earner, his mother is a homemaker, and his elder sister is in her 12th standard.
Former MLA from Jwali, Kangra, Neeraj Bharti, contributed Rs 50,000 towards the child’s treatment. Additionally, the school principal provided financial assistance to the child’s family.
