In September 2024, Korean band Aespa continued its impressive streak at the top of the Girl Group Brand Reputation rankings, marking their third consecutive month as the leading group. The members of Aespa, from SM Entertainment, have reportedly maintained their position since June 2024, and this month, they celebrated another win as the top girl group. In contrast, NewJeans, a popular group under ADOR, fell out of the Top 30 rankings this month. Despite the controversy reportedly surrounding NewJeans, ADOR and its CEO, Aespa’s success has caused a stir.
Competing closely with Starship Entertainment’s IVE, Aespa, as per reports, achieved a brand value of 5,062,660 from August 15 to September 15. Their strong performance in various metrics, including consumer participation and media activity, seems to have given them the edge in the Korean Business Research Institute’s rankings.
In addition to their ranking success, Aespa made history earlier this month by becoming the first female artist to win the Grand Prize (Daesang) at The Fact Music Awards 2024. This achievement broke a long-standing record previously held by HYBE Labels’ boy groups BTS and SEVENTEEN since the awards began in 2018. Furthermore, Aespa’s debut album, Armageddon, continued its impressive run on the Billboard World Albums chart, securing ninth place for the week ending September 14 and extending its streak to 15 weeks.
While Aespa was at the top, the rest of the Top 5 girl groups for September were also performing well. IVE claimed the second spot with a brand value of 3,608,799. LE SSERAFIM moved up from fifth place last month to third with a score of 3,567,430. (G)I-DLE improved its position to fourth place with a brand value of 2,779,077, and Red Velvet rounded out the Top 5 with a score of 2,752,242.
The Top 30 Girl Groups for September 2024 sees Aespa leading the pack. OH MY GIRL, TWICE, BLACKPINK, and Girls’ Generation also maintain strong positions within the top 10, with Apink securing the tenth spot. NMIXX, fromis_9, FIFTY FIFTY, and tripleS dominate the middle ranks, while emerging groups like ILLIT, cignature, and BABYMONSTER hold steady. Veteran groups such as EXID and Girl’s Day continue to have a presence in the rankings, alongside newer acts like KISS OF LIFE, LOONA, and MAMAMOO. The list concludes with groups like STAYC, ITZY, Kep1er, and WJSN, with DIA and LABOUM closing out the rankings at 29th and 30th, respectively.
