BALASORE: The district administration has sought a total assistance of `170 crore for repair and restoration works in the district. In its flood damage report, submitted in two phases to the State Government, the administration informed that the district incurred heavy loss in rural development, public works and irrigation sectors.While after the flood in August, the administration had submitted the damage report seeking an assistance of `29.10 crore, it has now sought financial aid of `141.52 crore after the flood in Subarnarekha and Budhabalanga rivers.Crops in over 20,000 hectares of land have been destroyed. Though no casualty was reported, over a 100 houses were damaged.Sources in the administration informed that properties worth `2749 lakh have been damaged in rural development divisions in Balasore, Soro and Jaleswar, followed by `1023 lakh in PWD, `145 lakh in minor irrigation, `88.03 lakh in lift irrigation, `3408.2 lakh in irrigation and `354 lakh in drainage division.The flood victims, however, alleged that no relief material has yet reached them.
