The District Supply Office (DSO) along with the Revenue Department conducted vehicle checks along the Tamil Nadu-Andhra Pradesh border and seized a total of 11.5 tonnes of smuggled ration rice during the last week.
District supply and consumer protection officer of Vellore T Jayasheela said the rice was seized during vehicle checks conducted by the Revenue Department and flying squads between September 22 to September 28.
Collector P Sankar warned persons misusing domestic gas cylinders for commercial purpose and as fuel for vehicles. Information about any misuse can be passed on to officials by calling 94450-00184, he added.
