Around 150 minors were rescued from the New Delhi railway station as they were boarding a train for Gujarat, police said on Friday.

The children - aged between six and 17 years - had come to Delhi from Nepal and Bihar. Police said they were ostensibly going to a school in Gujarat.

Refusing to divulge details, police said: "The children will be produced before the child welfare committee. We are also trying to contact their parents."

It was not immediately clear whether any adults were accompanying the children and whether any action was taken against them.
