From Elation to Pride: Heartfelt Reactions to India's Bronze Medal Win in Hockey at Paris Olympics
The Indian men's hockey tea claimed the bronze medal in Paris and the members of the medal-winning unit were congratulated by those close to them on the monumental occasion.

Indian hockey team’s bronze at the Paris Olympics sparked a wave of joy and pride among players and their families as the team led by Harmanpreet Singh took the country’s 13th medal in Hockey at the Games and won their second consecutive medal in back-to-back Games after a gap of 52 years.

Pargat Singh, former India captain – and the only one to have led India in two Olympics, speaking to CNN News18, expressed his satisfaction: “We have maintained our last performance. I wish everyone many congratulations. It’s a time to celebrate.”

In Ernakulam, Kerala, PR Sreejesh’s daughter, Anusree, shared her excitement: “It is very good news that the Indian team won the bronze medal. I was heartbroken in the finals when they lost, but the biggest news was that we won against Great Britain.” Her joy reflects the relief and elation felt by the family.

PR Sreejesh’s wife, Anisha, added an emotional touch, saying, “Words cannot express the pride and happiness I am feeling right now. Winning a bronze medal for India in his retirement match is truly a reward for his passion and dedication towards hockey. We are all proud of him. It is a dream come true moment for us, our family.”

In Uttar Pradesh’s Varanasi, Lalit Upadhyay’s sister, Anjali, conveyed her happiness: “I am very happy that India won. Their performance was so good that they had to win the bronze medal. I am very happy.” Her excitement mirrors the widespread pride in the team’s accomplishment.

Reeta Upadhyay, Lalit’s mother, from Varanasi, added her heartfelt sentiments: “May Baba Vishwanath keep blessing the children like this. One or two players’ hit goals, but the whole team makes complete efforts. Whoever may make a goal, the most important thing is that India won. I prayed to Bhole Baba that please don’t let the children return empty-handed. And He listened to us.”
