CHENNAI: Gandhian Anna Hazare and three other members of his team, Kiran Bedi, Santhosh Hegde and Dinesh Wagela, will begin their Chennai visit on Sunday by watching a special screening of Welcome Back Gandhi, the Hindi version of the Tamil film Mudhalvar Mahatma. Directed by A Balakrishnan, it is a film on how Gandhi would react to the India of today if he returned. The movie is being dubbed in Hindi as Welcome Back Gandhi.“As the film dealt with Gandhiji’s relevance even today, we were looking for an icon who could take the film to the masses. That’s when Anna Hazare sir’s name came about and we met him for the first time in April this year. We wanted him to see the movie, and met him again last week,” says Balakrishnan, who had earlier made a film on TN’s former CM Kamarajar.“On seeing the film stills, Anna-ji assured us that he would watch the film when he comes to Chennai,” Balakrishnan says. “This movie screening will be his first appointment when he lands in Chennai. In the evening, addressing a meet organised by India against Corruption, Anna Hazare will also get to listen to the English version of Vaishnava Janato, performed by BlaaZe. “Along with this, he will also perform the song Pledge from his album Time for Gandhi.
