Anand Singh should resign: Hiremath

S R Hiremath, who launched a crusade against illegal mining, has demanded the resignation of Tourism Minister Anand Singh for his alleged involvement in illegal mining and transportation of iron ore from Belekeri port.

He told reporters on Saturday that taking social responsibility into account, there are chances of Anand Singh influencing inquiry officials.

Welcoming the Supreme Court’s decision to direct the CBI to register an FIR against those involved in illegal extraction and transportation of iron ore from Belekeri port in Karnataka, he said truth will always prevail. He alleged that the high and mighty are involved in transportation of 50.79 lakh metric tonnes of the now confiscated iron from Belekeri port. As over 40 companies, including those run by Anand Singh, Kudligi MLA G Nagendra, B Sriramulu’s wife Lakshmi and G Janardhan Reddy’s wife Lakshmi Aruna are involved in the Belekeri case, Singh should resign immediately, he demanded.

Former chief ministers B S Yeddyurappa, H D Kumaraswamy, S M Krishna and Dharam Singh are also involved in illegal activities, he said.

Calling External Affairs Minister S M Krishna a liar, he said licences for Deccan Mining Syndicate and other firms, including a company owned by former AICC member Rajendra Jain, were granted during his tenure.
