Aizawl: At least 15 per cent turnout was reported on Tuesday in the Mizoram assembly elections in the first two hours of polling.
Braving the winter morning chill, voters queued up in front of the booths even 30 minutes before polling began at about 0700 hours (IST) to elect their representative to the 40-member Mizoram assembly.
Brisk polling was reported in majority of the 1,026 polling stations spread across the state.
Election officials said polling would pick up momentum from around 1000 hours (IST) .
An electorate of 6,11,124 voters will decide the fate of 205 candidates which include nine women and 36 independents.
