Percy Jackson And The Olympian Gets 13.3 Million Views, Makes It To Top 5 List For 2023
In its first six days since it started streaming on the OTT platforms, the first episode of Percy Jackson and the Olympians reportedly drew 13.3 million viewers.

Percy Jackson And The Olympian has made waves ever since the first few episodes of the popular book adaptation premiered. Created by Rick Riordan and Jonathan E. Steinberg, the series launched early, a night ahead of its slated December 20 release. Moreover, the show premiered on both Disney+ (and Disney+ Hotstar in India) and Hulu to attract more viewers. In its first six days since it started streaming on these OTT platforms, the first episode of Percy Jackson and the Olympians reportedly drew 13.3 million viewers.

According to a report by Variety, this figure places the series in the top five most-watched season premieres on both streaming sites in 2023. A total of 13.3 million viewers in six days can be considered outstanding compared to other shows on the platform. Previously released Disney+ premiere statistics include Ahsoka, which reached a slightly higher 14 million viewers in a slightly shorter five-day viewing period, and Loki Season 2 reached 10.9 million premiere viewers in just three days. The report mentions that the fact that these data points are comparable shows a success for new series that are based on middle-grade book series, whereas others are aimed at inherently larger adult audiences and have the advantage of coming after innumerable works in the Star Wars and Marvel franchises.

Furthermore, Percy Jackson and the Oympians was the most-watched premiere of all time for Disney Branded Television when compared to six days of viewership for the studio unit’s other titles, such as Goosebumps, which launched earlier this year; Superkitties, the No. 1 most-watched new series in 2023 among ages 2-5; and Bluey, the No. 1 most-watched 2023 series among ages 2-11.

For the time being, the first three episodes are now available on Disney+ while the first episode also streams on Hulu. New episodes are released every week on Disney+ and the Season finale is on January 31.

Pamela Levine, head of marketing at Disney Branded Television and National Geographic Content told Variety, “We’re so grateful for the amazing and dedicated Percy Jackson fans who have enthusiastically supported this project from the very beginning.” The series has been eagerly anticipated by Percy Jackson fans. Despite the fact that 20th Century Fox converted the first two books in the entire series into films in 2010 and 2013, certain factors made them unpopular.
