World Cup 2014: Our generation not finished yet, says Xabi Alonso
Spain midfielder Xabi Alonso said the defending champions should not be considered "finished" after their 1-5 loss to Netherlands.

Curitiba: Spain midfielder Xabi Alonso said the current generation of Spanish players should not be considered as "finished" after their 1-5 loss to the Netherlands in their World Cup Group B opener.

"We are still alive. We want to show that we still have much and that we want to compete. We know how to do this. The game against Chile will require high-level football. We know how to face them," Alonso said on Sunday, reports EFE.

Alonso expects a "good start" against Chile in Rio de Janeiros Maracana Stadium on Wednesday. "We know their playing style and characteristics which they probably will not change," he said.

The Netherlands lead Group B with three points, followed by Chile, Australia and Spain.
