Milan Fashion Week 2024: Highlights From Fendi, Alberta Ferretti And Marni's Summer/Spring Collection 2025

As Milan Fashion Week kicked off on September 17, the city’s renowned designers showcased ethereal designs, setting the stage for the Spring-Summer 2025 season. This year’s first day featured a mix of dreamy summer dresses and crisp cotton pieces, bridging the gap between summer’s lingering warmth and the approaching fall season.

Fendi’s Women Summer/Spring 2025 Collection

The collection drew inspiration from Fendi’s founding year, 1925, bringing together ready-to-wear with artisanal detailing of couture and combining handcrafted and machine-made elements for everyday wear. The runway was adorned with Sheer slip dresses adorned with art-deco embroidery, sparkling crystals and stone-encrusted work. Loose shirt dresses, sheer skirts paired with sheer tops, oversized trench coats, structured blazers and furry bath robes also found a presence. Knitwear played a key role, providing structure under sheer layers or hugging the body over airy trousers.

Alberta Ferretti Spring Summer 2025 Collection

Alberta Ferretti presented her summery designs in the courtyard of a former cloister, now a science museum, with a graceful dome in the backdrop. Instead of relying on heavy embellishments, Alberta Ferretti focused on lightweight fabric designs. The collection included laser-cut cotton techniques with leaves and flowers on flowy dresses and wide blouses. The ensembles had flowy maxi dresses, strapless mini dresses, halter neck balloon-shaped tops, wide-legged trousers, balloon skirts, tailored shirts and relaxed boxer shorts. The colour palette was all about a mix of light and natural shades such as grey, ecru, black, orange, blue and warm-toned stripes.

Marni Spring/Summer 25 Collection

Marni showcased a collection that blended playful styles with everyday chic. The women’s wear featured form-fitting dresses and skirts with deep back slits and occasional mermaid flares. Scarves, skirts and dresses made of feathers and crystal embellishments added a whimsical touch. The men’s collection consisted of broad-shoulder jackets, oversized blazers and skinny trousers. The off-skew bows on chiffon blouses and the tricks used to keep the bow aloft stole the show. The collection also featured large hats with feathery accents. The colour palette included shades of white, black, and red. The models entered the runway in a group of threes to the rhythm of piano and percussion mixed for a dramatic bold effect.
