Olympian wrestler Vinesh Phogat has resigned from her post in Indian Railways and joined the Congress party yesterday. She is going to be active in politics. Yesterday, September 6, she shared a tweet on her account which says, “At this point in my life, I have decided to separate myself from the railway service and have submitted my resignation to the competent authorities of the Indian Railways. I will always be grateful to the Indian Railway family for this opportunity given to me by the Railways in the service of the nation.” This 30-year-old wrestler was knocked out of the 50 kg gold medal match at the Paris Olympics due to weight issues. She appealed against the decision but was rejected by the Court of Arbitration for Sports. Vinesh was employed as an Officer on Special Duty (OSD) with Northern Railways.
