Union Minister of Education and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Dharmendra Pradhan, and Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, Vishnu Deo Sai, jointly inaugurated 211 PM SHRI schools in Raipur on February 19, marking a significant milestone in the education sector.

Pradhan thanked Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi at the occasion for his dedication to “strengthening the education ecosystem” by means of programmes like PM SHRI. He emphasised that in addition to the current 211 schools that have been inaugurated, more will be added in the next phase. Pradhan congratulated the state’s students on their confidence and diligence, underscoring that their ability to think critically will be fundamental to their success. He applauded the Chief Minister for giving Chhattisgarh’s education system a top priority.

The event was attended by various dignitaries, including the Chhattisgarh Minister of Education, Brijmohan Aggarwal; Members of Parliament Sunil Soni, Rajesh Munat, Purandar Mishra; Secretary, Department of School and Literacy, Ministry of Education, Sanjay Kumar and Additional Secretary, Department of School Education and Literacy, Vipin Kumar.

Pradhan underscored the importance of learning in the mother tongue for holistic development, aligning with the principles outlined in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. Citing scientific evidence indicating that 85 per cent of human brain development occurs by the age of 8, he announced the introduction of Balvatika in schools to aid children’s development.

Pradhan emphasised the inclusion of skills, vocational studies, music, drama, sports, and other competencies alongside traditional academic subjects, such as language, mathematics, science, environmental science, and social science. Recognising the innate innovation within Indian students, Pradhan emphasized the need to nurture and prioritize this aspect.

In addition to inaugurating the PM SHRI schools, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan inaugurated a Digital Library for Kendriya Vidyalaya and Virtual Reality labs for Navodaya Vidyalaya in the state. The dignitaries also visited an exhibition showcasing the work of school students, and three short films on PM SHRI Yojana, Kendriya Vidyalaya, and Navodaya Vidyalaya were screened during the event.
