Delhi University has started the admission process for the 2024-25 academic session for undergraduate courses. This year’s academic session is expected to begin in August 2024. While there are no major changes in the admission policy this year, the university has introduced reservation for single girl child in all courses as part of the supernumerary seats for the first time, DU Registrar Vikas Gupta said in a media report. Delhi University officials on Tuesday announced that they will introduce the quota for single girl child in various courses under its supernumerary category. Under this quota, one seat in each course in all colleges will be given to a single girl child on the basis of merit. This quota refers to the seats created in addition to the seats already sanctioned for a college.
Last year, DU introduced a supernumerary category to allow admission to orphans; one male and one female child in each course in each college.
The university has launched the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS) for admission to undergraduate courses in 69 colleges and various departments with 71,000 seats on offer. According to authorities, 5,911 applications were received on the CSAS website within three hours of the launch (PTI reported).
Admission
The admission process will be in two phases. The first phase of the admission process will be simple. Students will have to provide their personal details and Class 12 marks along with CUET registration number while registering. In the second phase, seats will be allotted after the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) results are declared.
Application fee
Applicants from unreserved classes, other backward classes and economically weaker sections will have to pay an application fee of Rs 250. Applicants belonging to scheduled caste, scheduled tribe or person with disabilities will have to pay a fee of Rs 100. For applicants who do not register in CSAS, there is an option of interim entry for which a fee of Rs 1,000 is payable and such applicants cannot claim seats allotted to another applicant who applied in the first phase.
The university will start admitting applicants for the School of Open Learning (SOL) next month and the portal for registration will be operational from June 3 and the Non-Collegiate Women’s Education Board (NCWEB) admission process began on Tuesday. Admission to the undergraduate courses under SOL and NCWEB will be done solely on the basis of marks in Class 12.
