'You Absolutely Delivered': Head Coach Gautam Gambhir's Special Shout Out for Suryakumar Yadav and Team
Head coach Gautam Gambhir prasied Team India and skipper Suryakumar Yadav for thie 3-0 whitewash of Sri Lanka in the T20I series.

India head coach Gautam Gambhir addressed the players after winning the T20I series against Sri Lanka. In his maiden assignment as the head coach of the side, Gambhir guided India to a convincing 3-0 win. India kicked off the T20I series with a 43-run victory, followed by a seven-wicket win and a Super-Over triumph in the second and third fixtures respectively. Talking about the team’s resilience in the series, the Gambhir said, “Guys, I asked for something before the start of the game and you absolutely delivered it. This is what happens when you keep fighting. You don’t give up.”

Gautam Gambhir started his speech by congratulating the team on a dominant show against Sri Lanka in the T20Is. “Guys congratulations on a great series win,” he said. Gambhir then commended Suryakumar Yadav’s leadership and his performances as the skipper of the side and said, “Congratulations to Surya as well, outstanding captaincy and more importantly with the bat as well.”

Speaking about the difficult conditions the team had to face in Sri Lanka, Gautam Gambhir focused on how the squad must always be prepared for situations like these. “We still need to get better on playing on wickets like these. Because we might end up getting these kinds of wickets. So we should first assess the situations and conditions quickly,” he said. Gambhir then concluded by urging the players who were not competing in the ODIs to take a break while keeping a check on their fitness. “Make sure from the fitness point of view, the fitness levels are right up there. Okay, Congratulations once again,” Gambhir added.

India all-rounder Hardik Pandya was the next to address the team. The T20 World Cup 2024 hero highlighted how Shubman Gill and Riyan Parag stepped up at a crucial situation to stitch a partnership when India lost too many wickets. Hardik also acknowledged the performances of lower-order batters, including Washington Sundar and Ravi Bishnoi, before congratulating Suryakumar Yadav on his brilliant captaincy. Hardik also said, “When you win games like this, eventually it kinds of takes us forward…this was definitely a right step going forward for the future.”

Team India was spotless in the series despite losing out on some of their star players such as Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja who retired after the T20 World Cup. India is now all set to face Sri Lanka in a three-match ODI series scheduled to start on August 2.
