'Wanted to Bowl Wide Yorkers and Give Myself 5 Seconds Before Every Ball': Avesh Khan Following His Last Over Heroics vs DC
'Wanted to Bowl Wide Yorkers and Give Myself 5 Seconds Before Every Ball': Avesh Khan Following His Last Over Heroics vs DC
Avesh Khan who produced a fine last over for the Rajasthan Royals revealed that he backed himself to do the job and was supported by his teamates and management as well.

While the spotlight on Rajasthan Royals’ latest victory will be on the young sensation Riyan Parag, the win would not have been possible without a fine bowling performance on all fronts. And leading the attack was none other than RR’s latest addition, Avesh Khan who was traded in from the Lucknow Super Giants.

Avesh was at the forefront of RR’s second innings. Following Nandre Burger’s powerplay spell which led to two wickets, it was the pacer from Indore who managed to keep up the pressure on the opposition through the middle and latter stages.

He began with the big wicket of David Warner on 49 to turn the tides just as it was going out of reach. It was then followed by a perfect final over which he executed to the tee with some fine yorkers to restrict the DC to just 173/5 in the 20 overs.

Speaking in the post-match presentations, he mentioned that his plans were clear from the start and was confident in the plans he had prepared. He said,” My plan was clear, one side was longer and I wanted to bowl wide yorkers. I gave myself 5 seconds before every ball to think and then execute the plan. If the batters play a good shot, it’s good for him, but I always back my yorkers”.

The pacer was also appreciative of his team-mates and management which gave him the confidence he needed to get the side through in the final over. He added,” We have Boult, Burger and Sandy, I’ve learnt a lot from them. The team management and Kumar Sangakkara have supported us a lot and have made us not worry too much about the fear of failure”.

However, his hunger to keep getting better does not stop here as he intends on pushing forward and will be eyeing a spot in India’s World Cup squad that travels to the West Indies and the United States of America for the T20 World Cup in June. He concluded by saying,” I always want to improve, I want to invent new types of deliveries in T20s. I rest and relax well, work hard in the nets and that has allowed me to improve my skills”.
