Mari Selvaraj has enlisted his name in the list of acclaimed directors after making only three Tamil films during his career. Now, after delivering the hit movie Maamannan, the director will be greeting his fans with his upcoming movie Vaazhai.
The movie is currently in the post-production stage. As per reports, the makers have decided to skip the theatrical release of the movie. The film Vaazhai is expected to release directly on the OTT platform Disney+ Hotstar soon.
Mari Selvaraj often focuses his movies on societal issues which often leave a deep impact on the minds of the audience. Due to this, his fans always await his films to be released in theatres. Now, his next directorial film Vazzhai’s theatrical release has been cancelled, according to reports.
This must have disappointed his fans as they were eagerly waiting for the release of this film. Now. as per the reports, the main reason for the theatrical skip is the OTT company Disney+ Hotstar. It is produced by Disney+ Hotstar and so it is expected to release on the OTT platform directly. The OTT release date is expected to be announced soon. However, there is no confirmation of the same by the makers of the movie yet.
This movie stars Kalaiyarasan, Nikhila Vimal, Dhivya Duraisamy and Priyanka. The music of the film is composed by Santhosh Narayan. The shooting of the movie has been completed and it is currently in the post-production stage. On the occasion of Mari Selvaraj’s birthday earlier this year, the music composer Santhosh Narayan said he was stunned after watching the movie Vaazhai. He also asked the people to brace themselves for the iconic movie.
Mari Selvaraj started his film career with the movie Pariyerum Perumal. It starred Kathir and Anandhi in the lead roles while G Marimuthi and Yogi Babu played the supporting roles in the movie. It was released in 2018. The director rose to fame with the movie Karnan which starred Dhanush in the lead role. It was one of the highest-grossing Tamil movies in 2021.
