Mumbai: After severe cuts in afternoon trade, the market managed to pare some losses by closing. The Sensex was down 200.88 points or 0.7% at 26525.46, and the Nifty slipped 65.85 points or 0.8% at 8140.75.
About 964 shares have advanced, 1628 shares declined, and 165 shares are unchanged.
Asian Paints, Wipro, GAIL, HUL and Tata Motors were gainers while ICICI Bank, Maruti, Bharti, NTPC and L&T were losers in the Sensex.
