Anil Kapoor Was To Play Ranbir Kapoor's Father In This Film Before Animal
Ranbir Kapoor revealed that Anil Kapoor nearly played his father's role in the film Dil Dhadakne Do, but fate took a different turn.

Following the triumph of his actioner Animal, which broke box office records and became one of the highest-earning films of 2023, Ranbir Kapoor currently enjoys a high degree of affluence. Ahead of the film’s release on OTT, the lead characters – Ranbir, Anil Kapoor and Bobby Deol – engaged in a candid talk for the platform. During the course of the interaction, Ranbir and Anil disclosed some titbits regarding their initial venture together. They shared that in the past, they had come close to starring in a Bollywood film but it somehow did not happen.

While Anil Kapoor was having the chat, he mentioned that if Ranbir Kapoor had not withdrawn from Dil Dhadakne Do, he would have played the role of his father much earlier.

Ranbir said, “At that time, he told me, ‘I never play a father’s part, but I will play your father’s role in a film’." Drawing reference to Dil Dhadakne Do, Anil added, “When I said yes, you were doing the film."

RK went on to clarify that the actor confided in him and had some doubts about continuing to work on the project. Notably, Ranbir Kapoor was a part of the movie at one point in time. Ranbir withdrew from the film due to schedule conflicts and Ranveer Singh was eventually chosen to play the role. Dil Dhadakne Do was directed by Zoya Akhtar and aimed towards a family audience. It also included Farhan Akhtar, Priyanka Chopra, Anushka Sharma, and Shefali Shah.

According to reports, Zoya had a different cast in mind for the roles. Despite the fact that RK was approached to play the role of the son, other actors including Hrithik Roshan, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Katrina Kaif were also considered options for some of the roles at the beginning of the casting process.

Meanwhile, Animal has already crossed the Rs 500 crore mark at the Indian box office. The film revolves around a toxic relationship between a man played by Ranbir Kapoor and his father portrayed by Anil Kapoor.
