Amid the tension between Karnataka and Tamil Nadu over the Cauvery water and Karnataka Bandh, actor Siddharth who was in Bengaluru to promote his upcoming film Chithha was forced to leave an ongoing press conference at SRV Theatre in the city after a ruckus was created by an pro-Kannada front. The actor was requested by the men to stop the event and Siddharth thanked the media members and walked out of the event. Now, veteran actor Prakash Raj has issued an apology to the actor on X (formerly known as Twitter).
Retweeting the video, the veteran actor, in a long note, said that instead of questioning the political leaders who failed to resolve the decades-old issue, troubling the common man and artists like this cannot be accepted.
“Instead of questioning all the political parties and its leaders for failing to solve this decades-old issue…instead of questioning the useless parliamentarians who are not pressurising the centre to intervene…Troubling the common man and Artists like this cannot be accepted…as a Kannadiga…on behalf of Kannadigas. Sorry Siddharth,” the actor wrote.

At the event, while Siddharth was interacting with media members, a few men walked in and asked him to leave and they even told the organisers of the press conference to end the event immediately in support of the ongoing Cauvery protest. A protestor was heard saying that they are fighting here and the Cauvery water is going to Tamil Nadu and he (Siddharth) was promoting his film.
Siddharth initially chose to ignore them and continued to speak but one of the protestors told the actor that they had not come there to order but were requesting to stop the event.
The state-wide bandh on Wednesday also caused trouble to commuters in many parts of Bengaluru, especially traffic jams stretching several kilometres.
Several pro-Kannada organisations, farmer groups and labour unions have called for Karnataka Bandh in protest against releasing Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu on September 29. The Cauvery is the main source of drinking water for the city of Bengaluru and for the irrigation of farmland in the Mandya region of the state.
On Friday, 44 flights were cancelled informed PRO, Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru.
