Bengaluru Vlogger's Movement to Bring Taylor Swift to India Draws Ire Over 'Unwanted' Disturbance
Taylor Swift's fan in Bengaluru shared how he initiated a 'Swifties' Assemble' to bring American singer to India. Viral video receives thumbs down on internet.

They say, “Not everything is worth the noise,” and this sentiment was precisely reflected when a video creator on Instagram shared how he initiated a movement on the streets of Bengaluru to bring Taylor Swift to India. In a video posted by @cassiusclydepereira on the photo-sharing platform, he recounted how he and fellow ‘Swifties,’ fans of the popular American singer-songwriter, blocked roads and caused a commotion by dancing to her songs. However, the internet did not approve of this movement, labelling it as an unwanted disturbance and a disruption of services.

The video depicted how Cassy and the Swifties gathered, initially blocking a road to create a buzz until the police intervened. Undeterred, they moved to the next location, distributing glow bands to fans who continued to sing, drawing more people to the scene. Cassy was elated to see people of all ages joining in for fun and contributing to the ‘Swifties’ Assemble’ event.

However, social media users expressed their irritation at the idea of causing such disruption on the streets for a cause they deemed too trivial to make a real impact. One user described the participants as the “most cringe youths of India,” while another humourously commented, “Everyday i realize why brown parents use belt and slippers.” A third user quipped, “My jobless friends on a fine Monday morning.”

The video also found its way to the micro-blogging site ‘X,’ where it received a significant number of thumbs-down reactions. One user expressed sympathy, saying, “I feel bad for the coming generation bhaii,” while another questioned the purpose of the whole event, asking, “What’s The Point of It.”

Since being shared, the video has garnered over 130K views on IG.
