As Biden Vows To Continue With Re-election Bid, Here’s A List Of Democrats, Celebs Asking Him To Step Aside

US President Joe Biden believes he is best poised to defeat Republican nominee Donald Trump in the November elections even though Democrats from the US House and US Senate, top donors and celebs who backed him previously have asked him to drop out of the presidential race.

Thirty-five congressional Democrats, representing more than 10% of the party’s members in Congress, have now publicly called on Biden, who is isolating at his Delaware home with COVID-19, to drop out following the June 27 debate against Trump.

The debate and Biden’s performance that has been dubbed as ‘disastrous’ have raised serious concerns inside the party over Biden’s ability to win the election or carry out his duties for another four years.

Biden said Trump’s acceptance speech at the Republican National Convention showcased a “dark vision for the future.”

The president, seeking to move the political conversation away from his fate and onto his rival’s agenda, said Friday he was planning to return to the campaign trail next week.

“Together, as a party and as a country, we can and will defeat him at the ballot box. The stakes are high, and the choice is clear. Together, we will win,” Biden said.

But despite that Senator Joe Manchin, a Democrat turned independent from West Virginia and Ohio Senator Sherrod Brown, a Democrat, were latest to join a chorus of party members, donors and a-listers to ask Biden to ‘pass the torch to a new generation’.
