Woman's Hack To Purchase Fresh Items Receives A Thumbs Down From Foodies
It is generally believed that products with shorter expiration dates are put first for faster sales and this shopper has a hack to avoid buying these products.

Grocery shopping is a task in and of itself. While some are pros, many find it hard to even remember their list. While some like to write down what they want, many prefer the same store every time just to make sure they are not being fooled. Especially when you go to supermarkets, there is always concern about buying expired products. It is generally believed that products with shorter expiration dates are typically put first for faster sales, and this shopper has a hack to avoid buying these products.

In a video released by food blogger Ramya Ravuri, she can be seen taking a shopping cart and picking up goods such as oranges, hummus, cheese blocks, hot chocolate powder, frozen veggies, and more. But interestingly, she chooses these products from the back row rather than the front row. The logic behind this is that when the staff sticks the products, the fresh ones are kept at the back and the older ones at the front so that they sell first. The caption overlaid over the video reads, “POV you are raised to grocery shop like this.” The caption also mentions, “It’s the only way I know how.”

The video has gone viral in no time and has about 4.6 million mixed reactions from online users.

Some users said, “Hahaha I do this all the time,” I’m teaching my kids the same thing.” An individual pointed out, “This is why I won’t do grocery delivery! Gotta get that milk in the back of the case.”

A person who initially worked at a retail store warned, “I have to check it constantly because I know from working in retail that too many employees won’t actually properly rotate the items, so often the freshest would be upfront anyways.”

However, there were many who did not like them and commented that this leads to immense food waste. A user accused such buyers, saying, “You’re the reason food goes bad on the shelves.” Another experienced individual stated, “As someone who used to work at a grocery store: this makes me angry, because we had to throw away everything that was expired, even if it was perfectly fine to eat, we couldn’t even take it for ourselves.”
