'Why Showoff?' Indian Celebration Goes Wrong After Firecracker Bursts On Baby, Parents. Watch Video

These days in India, every event, big or small, turns into a grand celebration. While it’s amazing to see people celebrate with such enthusiasm, the trend of over-the-top ‘showoffs’ often leads to issues. This was the case when a couple decided to organise a lavish celebration for their baby. Unfortunately, numerous firecrackers meant to welcome their baby girl malfunctioned, resulting in injuries to both the baby and her mother.

In a viral clip making rounds on the internet, the couple can be seen proudly walking with their baby at the grand event, which appeared to be her first birthday celebration. As the firecrackers ignited, one misfired and landed near the parents, injuring the mother and terrifying the baby. While the father rushed to care for his wife, an elderly woman stepped in to comfort the frightened baby.

The video has sparked a wave of concern about parents risking their and their child’s safety for the sake of showmanship. “Showoff, dangerous, immature & irresponsible parents in my books,” wrote a user on ‘X’, sharing the video.

Comments flooded in, with one user calling it “Complete nonsense” and another criticising the use of fireworks in children’s zones, labelling it as “totally immature for so many reasons.” A third user pointed out, “People Never Learn, Tens of Cases where Tragedy Has struck, recently 100s died in a weddin, ppl falling or getting burnt! It takes a second for happiness to turn to tragedy! Be careful ppl.”

Others were particularly critical of the father’s actions, noting he attended to his wife while leaving the crying baby unattended. “Such a loser, after the incident he is taking care of wife, who is able to control herself, instead of the baby, Good to see that old lady came for him,” one person wrote. Another echoed, “And all they cared about was themselves not baby?!? They didn’t pickup the crying baby. Only grandma came to rescue,” among many similar comments.
