Mithun Chakraborty has had an illustrious career in Bollywood so far and thus, his personal life has also often been brought under the limelight. Back in the 80s, it was said that a married Mithun was so enamoured by Sridevi after working with her that he secretly tied the knot with the actress. The two were allegedly married from 1985 to 1988. However, Mithun was already married to Yogeeta Bali.
Back then, Mithun was asked in an interview if he ever laid eyes upon another woman after he got married. The actor said, “Sab hi aurat ki taraf nazar uthaake dekhta hoon lekin acchi neeyat se.” When asked if the rumours about him were true, he said some were true and some false. “I’m the most… married bachelor,” he said. When asked if the rumours about his ‘secret marriage’ with Sridevi were true, he said, “Voh mujhe nahi pata. No comment.”

Mithun and Sridevi met on the sets of Jaag Utha Insan. It was alleged that the two stars had a brief affair and even secretly got married in a court ceremony in 1985. Reports claim that in 1987 when Boney Kapoor grew closer to Sridevi, Mithun’s wife Yogeeta Bali learnt about his alleged indiscretion.
Boney Kapoor and Mithun Chakraborty’s friendship was also allegedly strained after this. It was said that Sridevi filed for an annulment in 1988 and separated from Mithun. Reports claimed that a significant reason for this was that Mithun was not ready to leave Yogeeta. However, neither Mithun nor Sridevi have confirmed these claims.
Mithun married Yogeeta Bali in 1979 and they have two sons together, Mimoh Chakraborty and Namashi Chakraborty. Yogeeta was previously married to Kishore Kumar. Mithun and Yogeeta have been married for nearly four decades now. As for Sridevi, the late actress married Boney Kapoor in 1996. Boney Kapoor was previously married to Mona Shourie. They have two kids, Anshula Kapoor and Arjun Kapoor. Sridevi and Boney have two daughters, Janhvi Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor.
