Viral Post: Man shares scenic pictures from Mumbai's Marine Drive to inquire what's stopping people from moving to the 'beautiful' city.

Mumbai, the city of dreams, dazzles like a golden fantasy when viewed from the heights of an airplane, with its ostentatious skyscrapers casting a spell. However, the true essence of the city unfolds when you step inside, and the local trains reveal the reality – a landscape filled with congested houses, devoid of balconies, and the everyday struggles within chawls. Recently, a viral post showcased the picturesque Marine Drive, prompting a humourous exploration of what hinders people from making it their home.

As scenic snapshots of Marine Drive’s shore, sunset hues, and aerial aesthetics, posted by @baxirahul, flooded timelines, a witty user on ‘X’ responded, “Maybe because people can’t afford to live the areas depicted in the beautiful pictures.”

Another quipped, “Everything except your photos.” The third, echoing a prevalent sentiment, emphasised, “It’s not possible for you to move to such a lovely place, as shown in your photographs, without being a millionaire” underscoring the exorbitant rents and real estate prices.

Adding a touch of humour, another user shared a quintessential Mumbai experience: “If you can hear your TV from your bathroom very clearly, you are in Mumbai. (That’s also the reason).” This cheeky observation highlighted the cramped living conditions characteristic of Mumbai flats.

A fifth contributor provided a panoramic perspective, suggesting, “Mumbai is best seen eye-level at 500 feet and above. Never look to the ground,” capturing the essence of the city’s allure despite its challenges.

Recently, a viral video showcased a 2BHK flat nestled within a mere 323 sq. ft space, priced at Rs. 75 lakhs in a towering 23-storey building in Kandivali East. The revelation left the internet in awe and amusement, torn between marvelling at the surprisingly livable space and bursting into laughter at the cramped rooms, washrooms, and the overall ingenuity required for living in such quarters—a poignant reflection of the lifestyle endured by Mumbaikars.
