In India, the legal age for marriage for girls is 18 years while for boys the legal age of marriage is 21 years. However, in several parts of the country, girls and boys marry before the allowed age. In some places, people even make fake birth documentation to stay out of legal issues. A video of such a girl named Chanda Basfort went viral on the internet who got married at the age of 17. Even after marriage, she decided to pursue a sport that everyone couldn’t think of. Recently, the video of her life’s journey went viral creating a buzz among netizens.
In the video, the woman explained that when she was 15 years old she passed the 10th-grade examination. She mentioned that when she was 15 her father said that his daughter had grown up and it was the correct time to get her marriage done. The young girl got engaged at the very young age of 16. At the age of 17, Chanda officially got married. Soon after her marriage, she got pregnant and at the age of 18, she gave birth to a child. As the days passed she started gaining weight which affected her both physically and mentally.
The woman further explained in the video that as she continued to gain weight. She also provided pictures of her looks at every stage of her life. She mentioned that people started calling her dark and ugly. In such a situation when she was going through such a phase her husband Ravi advised her to join the gym. On her husband’s advice, Chanda started her gym training and soon after that, she started doing powerlifting. She pursued powerlifting at the professional level. With years of hard work, Chanda won multiple medals and awards. The woman posted the video in her Instagram handle captioning it, “Thank you buddy Ravi, I am nothing without you!”
This video has gone viral on social media attracting millions of views. More than 9 lakh people liked the video while over five thousand people commented. Many users highly praised the husband for his support to make his wife a powerlifter.
