The video shows people looking at the beige-coloured shoe kept in the corner of an empty room with much interest.

Museums are the places where historical, scientific, artistic, or cultural interests and artefacts are stored and exhibited. People from across the world visit museums. But visitors of New York were in for a solid surprise after a prankster decided to leave a scuffed-up shoe. The gallery-goers assumed it to be an ancient artefact too and how they reacted left social media in splits.

A clip has the complete attention of the internet after they get pranked in a museum. A young woman was at the world-famous Guggenheim Museum in New York. The clip showed that she could be seen wearing only one Converse shoe before the camera turned towards the gallery and showed people looking at the other beige-coloured shoe kept in the corner of an empty room with much interest. They assumed that it might be an ancient object put up for exhibition. Around 3-4 of the visitors also clicked photos on their phones.

The caption of the post read, “A visitor at the Guggenheim Museum in #NewYork took off her shoe and left it in the exhibition area. Other visitors then lined up to take photos and looked at the shoe for minutes.” The video has received over 23.1 million views on the internet. The comment section was in splits after seeing the video. While many called it stupid and joked about it, others found the behaviour of the visitors interesting as they tried to find art in it.

After all, art is supposed to make one think, feel and reflect. One went to the extent of calling the prankster an artist who changed the environment of the museum by introducing an object and others took notice of it.

One user wrote, “Top tier social experiment!” Another commented, “But isn’t that kind of sweet? How do people see art in anything?” One wrote, “It is art. The art of stupidity.” A user joked, “They CONVERSE over the art piece.” “This demonstrates the power of the collective imagination and perceived value”, wrote another.
